Lau’s Chores (“the app”) is made by Elysium Limited (“we”). This policy explains what happens to your information when you use the app.
What the app stores
To work, the app keeps your household’s information:
- the household’s name and settings (such as its time zone and the day the week starts);
- each member’s name, role (parent or child), colour, avatar or photo, share of the monthly target, and reminder settings;
- rooms, chores and their schedules;
- which chores were done, by whom and when, and the points, badges and prizes that follow from them.
To link a device to the right person, the app also keeps the anonymous identifier iCloud gives each Apple ID (it isn’t your email address or phone number). When you set up or join a household, the app may read your first name from iCloud, only to fill in your name for you.
Where it’s kept
- On your device, in the app’s own storage. The home-screen widgets read the same storage.
- In iCloud, in the household owner’s private iCloud database, using Apple’s CloudKit. When the owner invites someone, iCloud shares the household with that person’s Apple ID. Apple stores and protects this data under Apple’s Privacy Policy; we can’t see or access it.
If you don’t use iCloud, the household stays on your device only.
Who can see it
Only the people in your household: the owner and the people they’ve invited. Within the app, children only see their own prizes.
We and other third parties can’t see your household’s information. We don’t sell, rent or share it with anyone.
Photos and camera
If you choose a photo for an avatar, the app uses the photo picker or the camera only when you ask it to. The chosen photo is stored with the household as described above. The app doesn’t read anything else from your photo library.
Face ID, Touch ID and passcode
Switching to a parent’s profile asks for Face ID, Touch ID or the device passcode. This uses Apple’s system check: the app only learns whether it succeeded, and never receives any biometric data.
Notifications
Reminders and household notices are created on your device. They aren’t sent through any server of ours.
Children
The app is designed to be used by families, including children, with a parent setting it up. Because we collect no information, we don’t collect any information from children.
Keeping or deleting your information
- To remove a household from a device, a parent uses Family → Household & sharing, then Delete household (the owner) or Leave household (someone who joined). On a child’s own device, deleting the app removes it.
- Deleting the household as its owner also deletes it from iCloud for everyone.
- You can also see and delete the app’s iCloud data in Settings → [your name] → iCloud → Manage Storage.
- Deleting the app removes everything stored on that device.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we’ll update the date at the top and publish the new version at https://lauschores.app/privacy/.
